My brother in law has the Shield 9mm.
I've shot it a few times, and liked it. Of course I own a S&W already, and may be biased. The grip is a little narrow for my tastes.
I would HIGHLY recommend going to a range and renting one. I was dead set on buying a Glock model 22 before I actually shot it. I personally can't stand the ergonomics of the Glocks though.
I've also shot my sister's SR9C. In basic training for the Navy we shot Beretta 92s.
If I were to go looking for a 9mm I'd probably go for a Sig P226.

When i carry, i usually just thro the DoubleTap in my pocket and head on out. Its a cheap, clean, smoothsided deringer style double barrel 45 acp made of lightweight materials and stores 2 more rounds in the handle. In my pocket from the outside it just looks like i have my cell phone there, it doesnt look like the shape of a gun so it is "concealed"
I dont carry because i am brave, egotistical, or special. I carry because i am scared and want to give myself the opportunity to avoid being a victim. I want to be the guy that survived. I will be very happy if i am never in a position to have a real need for a gun at all, but sleep good at night know at least that i have a chance to even the odds should that moment arise.
Crime only takes seconds and cops are always minutes away.

They were giving one of those away at my sportsman's club gun bash and was intrigued by it. Never recall thought of a derringer till I saw that doubletap in person. Would be good for my wife!

I have the shield in 9 and 40. Generally carry the 40 or my xds .45. I have had zero issues with the shields. My local gun store has them frequently for $349 brand new. I use an iwb Panther Concealment holster. It is tuck able and a comfortable fit. Highly recommend.

Over the years I've tried a lot of different pistols, but I keep coming back to the G19 as my primary. It sits on my hip probably 98% of the time. The other 2% is split between my Springfield XDS .45 and S&W Bodyguard .380 (for those times when I really need small and light).
