The Jeep Cherokee left my girlfriend stranded today. The transmission service light flashing instead of the speedometer.
The tow truck just took it to the dealer. Reading online, it seems this is not a rare occurrence.
After 30 min, it would drive, but engine check light is still on.
Some are needing a whole new tranny.
She gets a rental car in the morning.

I will let you know the outcome.

I'll be keeping an eye on your thread. Just got a 15 Cherokee Limited for my wife so hope it's not a common problem. Sorry about your luck.

 

First they said there was a recall in Oct. I bought it the last day of Sept. And I never got a recall notice. Now they say it may need a new transmission.
I wish they would test these 9 speed trannys a bit more before making us buy one.

 

Just happened recently with my moms 2014 Cherokee. Transmission went out at 22k quite ridiculous Chrysler still claims it is not a common issue

 

I think they are trained to do that. The service manager sounded like it's the 1st he heard of it. The tow truck driver said he has towed many of these same cars to dealer.
A short Google search finds many people with the same issues.

 

My mom just told me that her Cherokee was the 6th Cherokee to be fixed at the dealer. Chrysler now has the transmission on back order

 

After 15 days, we got it back. New trans. So far it runs fine. I hope they figure out what is wrong with these things.
