Default 2006 Jeep LJ Question. Looking to make sure I am not getting had ????

OK,
I have found a dealer in my area with a 2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ at what looks to be a competitive price. It is not a Rubicon but according to the dealer it has Dana 44's front and rear and the Rubicon transfer case. Now i do not claim to be a Jeep expert but as far as my knowledge will take me, Jeep did not offer FR & RR Dana 44's and the Rock Trac 4:1 Transfer case in any other configuration other than the Rubicon.

PLease verify / refute my thoughts for me.

As I remember ( but am probably wrong on this), the non Rubicon Jeep would have come from the factory with a Dana 44 rear? and the Dana 35 Front and I dont know what transfer case.

Either way, it isnt a deal breaker for me, but i am looking for some negotiating leverage.

Thanks.

Default Thanks

Gentlemen, Thanks for the response.

I spoke with the dealer and pressed him on what I thought were misrepresentations of his product (in a nice way) and he quickly backed off and admitted it was possible that he was incorrect. In doing so, he dropped his price a little. Likely picking up tomorrow or Friday.

2006 Jeep LJ Unlimited 6 speed with 79K for $8760.

The only caveat is the Jeep has a rebuilt title. Havent seen before photos yet nor have I inspected the jeep in person. Doing that Friday once the weather clears up.

Dealer said the damage was minor and I have seen they appear to have only replced the windshield frame.

Karl,
Me too. Honestly, I trust very little of what comes out of ANY car dealers mouth let alone a guy selling rebuilt stuff. I have no problem with owning a salvage title vehicle as I am not looking to resell or make any money off it, I just want one that has been correctly repaired.

I by no means am an expert but I am taking someone with me who knows a heck of a lot more about vehicles than i do.

If you or anyone have any advice, I will happily take it.

Is this your first jeep?

Once you find out where was damaged with your salvage title then look over that area with a fine comb.

I definitely will be super careful and post a lot of photos. Unfortunately, Yes this is my first Jeep. I have wanted one since I was 15 (16 years), but the right time never presented itself until now. This vehicle will be a third vehicle for our family and toy for me to play with.

If there is the slightest sign of issue, I am walking away. I am also bringing a coworker of mine who happens to be a mechanic on the side to assist with the assessment. I figure the more eyes the better.

Truth be told, I really want a CJ7 as it has always been my dream to build one but now that I have the funds to do so, I also
have a wife and an 19 month old son. Plans Change! The CJ will have to wait.

I joined this forum after stumbling across the Project-JK website and You Tube videos and immediately became addicted to reading the trails and tales forum, and show and tell. This is by far the best and most informative Jeep site on the internet. Never tried to be a poser or anything that I am not, just a big jeep enthusiast.

I joke with my wife that Jeeps are my porn and based on what I have seen on this site I am confident I am not alone in that analogy.

I bought an 06 LJ three years ago, 12,000m, showroom condition, paid 15,000. Still trying to decide on mods, it's basically a grocery-getter for my wife. I want to keep it as street friendly as possible for my wife, she wants a lift and larger tires. I" either do a longarm on it or just fenders like metelcloak on a stock susp with a budget boost. Btw it has a 44 rear and 30 front.

I've had 4 TJ's and this is my 1st JK and I'm like you.....hooked. I would go back to a TJ or an LJ in a heartbeat.

The only thing this site lacks is a thorough TJ/LJ section. I used to be on a forum and it was mainly focused on them with a little splash of JK. When I saw how much info they lacked I came over here.

But keep us (mostly me) posted and we'll see whatcha come back with, hopefully a sweet toy!

The jeeps are resilient though, this was the result of a Lexus turning in front of my brother at 25mph. Not too bad for a hit right in the back end of the Lexus. Not to mention that the driver's side axle/ cv is TOAST from the hit. The TJ just has some light damage.

Karl,
I agree that the TJ/LJ forum leave a little to be desired and personally I wish the "Other Jeep" pages had half of the valuable info found under the JK pages. But, I do not expcect much, nor should I, since this is JK Forum.

This forum is a lot easier to navigate, so I hope to stay active here regardless, even though I may have to venture out to gather info.

No bueno on the jeep. Went by this afternoon to look and test drive. As expected, it wasn't in perfect condition which I assumed due to the low price.

The kicker was that as soon as I got there, the dealers employees started in on what sounded like a well rehearsed routine and then upped our agreed upon price by $1000.

I didnt even test drive it and walked away bc every alarm in my head was going off.

As info, the dealers website is wholesaleautoshop.com[/url]. Do not be deceived. Everything they have there is junk and a lot o the repairs seemed pretty half assed.

Will not be back there again.
