94 YJ help.
Of course look for all the usual used car stuff; check the carfax, frame damage, how it drives, actual miles on odometer, oil leaks, etc. Check the trans/clutch and 4wd. But for an older Jeep check for how rusted out the frame and body is. The body on my old cj was mostly street signs and refridgerator doors rivetted in. For $3000 it won't be perfect just make sure he can live with what it'll take to fix.
Look for rust damage on the tub's low spots and the center of windshield frame. If you can, look under the carpet for rust. My 88 YJ had rust damage in these locations.
You guys are going to kill me but, my YJ sold for $800. It was beat up but even the AC worked. However a new young jeeper was born.

In a 94 it wont have the Peugot tranny. 4cyl - AX5, and 6cyl - AX15. If it has been in UT its whole life it shouldnt be too rusty. If it looks decent and runs and shifts good, I see no reason its not a $3k Jeep.
