Another Wheel Question From a Newbie!
Hi everyone...I've just bought a 2006 Wrangler X, it is completely stock and I would like to add some nice rims. This Jeep is only going to be used for road use and the only off roading it will see is my mates driveway in Vermont during Ski season.
So, I am thinking of getting 16 or 17 inch rims, 8 inch width. I would like the wheels to slightly stick past the mud guards and so my question would be what back spacing should I look for? The tires would just be all season tires, I'm not really into the big tire look! Yes I know, your asking "why buy a Jeep then?" I just like the look of them.
Thanks much and look forward to your advice. Oh, and any advice as to where to look for rims would be great also.
Thanks again.

I'm looking at putting 16 x 8 ...DC-1's with about 4" backspace.
They will replace my 16" 5.5 backspace steelies.
I'll probably mount the 225/75/16" stock tires on the new rims until I can swing some bigger AT's in 32"s or 265/75
I'm looking to stay in warranty, have even tire wear, keep my front end parts tight, and have it drive nice, like it does in stock form.
Does the backspace differences make a difference in the alignment?

On my wifes 2006 unlimited I ordered spidertrax conversion spacers and put my old jk 17in rims and tires on it. She likes it.

Sometimes in the For Sale section, you can pick up a full set of these for pretty cheap, with the spidertrax spacers they stick out about an inch past the flares.
