Default Good deal for 89 wrangler?

Hey guys. I have a 2012 wrangler but thinking of buying another rig to off road and not worry about braking it or denting it up. Anyways I found an 89 yj, 5 speed, lifted with springs sitting on 35s. Ford 8.8 with 4.10s. Frame is perfect, body is almost perfect, bed lined tub. Winch, bumpers. Hard top, full doors. It does have the 4 cyl though, but doesn't drive too bad. He wants 4,000.00 and won't take any less. Is it worth that much? Fiancé already thinks I'm crazy for buying another jeep, but is cool with it. I just want something I can mess around in and not have to smash up or break down in my DD.

Yeah, I figured it would be going for around that price. The guy doesn't drive it much anymore and doesn't want to see it go to waste. Thanks for the input....now just trying to join a club in CT, as there's no legal wheeling at all in the whole state.

The 4.10's, 35's, and 4 cyl would probably be a little less than satisfactory. My guess on the reason behind the price is because of the 8.8 axle and 35's. They go for $2k in stock form.

Check the motor over and make sure it'll work how you want it to otherwise you'll be regearing it. Also.....spring over or under? With enough lift to do 35's does he have a SYE on the case?

It's spring over, sye, Tom Woods shafts, diff covers. Comes with spare motor and trans, 5 point harnesses, racing buckets, track bar. It drives decent, I wouldn't take it on the highway. I can always convert to 6 cyl if I really felt the need. I just figured it was a decent price but I haven't owned a YJ in years so I'm not sure what the market is, and haven't been able to find a comparable YJ to the amount of work done on this one around my area. Thanks for all the help.

Nope, just some fire roads. Unless you get permission from some one who owns private land. Jeeps clubs have land they can use in CT

Cops are pretty damn strict about illegal off roading too. Two kids just got busted for being caught in the woods, got arrested and jeeps impounded. They weren't partying, causing loud noise, they weren't behind some ones house. Lots of stuck up people in this state who will call 911 if they see a jeep pull in to a trail from the road. ATV and dirt bike off roading is legal, but no vehicles are....go figure lol
