In so many ways, I really think the differences between the 06 and 07 is more like comparing apples and oranges. Plain and simple, the JK is no TJ and vice versa. As you may or may not know, I am a die hard Jeep lover... that's ALL Jeeps and there's nothing I wish the JK had that the TJ had. Yes, the I-6 was a beast that ran forever but this new V6 may too? And, if it doesn't, you can be sure that Jeep will replace it with something else down the road. It's not like Jeep hasn't dabbled with other engines before including V6's. In the end, I think they have to try new things... take a risk in order to push the ball forward and I would rather they did that and make mistakes then to live in the past.

Although I love my TJ and have no intention of ever selling it, I can honestly say that the improvements made to the JK are significant enought to make it a better Jeep.

I didn't know this...What other Jeeps came stock with a V6? Or do you mean JEEP in general? Not just CJ's or wranglers?

I feel the same way about my Rubi and I don't even have it yet. And as far as it being a better Jeep...Through everybody's reply to my thread I have come to be fairly well convinced of this.

And after I read your last reply as well Eddy, I see what you mean...Apples and Oranges....You hit it right on the head

I refused to trade in my '99 XJ when buying the JK because I love that reliable 4.0 I-6. I'd love to see how the JK would run using the inline-6, but I'm willing to try the V6 to get a true upgrade from my 4-door cherokee in so many other respects.

(Looking forward to improving my XJ now that it's not my daily driver...)

Default Thaaat Does It !!!!!!!!!

Well...As much of a better Jeep the JK may be...like you said Eddie, the I-6 was a beast that ran forever.
That's what got me looking into buying a Jeep to begin with...they run forever.
When I found out about the Unlimited models and their longer wheel base, that's what really sparked my intrest,
because of the extra storage space they had over the shorter wranglers.
and then I started looking a little deeper and that's when I learned about the new four door JKs. When I saw one I fell in love.
I knew that I had found the Jeep that I wanted. But since I had never owned a Jeep before I didn't know and or realize
how drasticly DC had really changed them internally (ie. the V-6). Just like the same problem I tend to have with women...I fell in love
with the body, without getting to know them on a deeper level.

Well...To make a long story even longer.....
I got a call from my dealer yesterday, and he informed me that now mine won't be built 'till sometime in March
so I most likely won't see it untill April. AAAARRRRRR!!!!!!! THAAAAT' DOES IT !!!!!!!!!
I know that a lot of folks have been waiting longer than me, (you longer than anybody else in this whole forum Eddie) and I'm really
feeling kind of like a shumck after some of the posts I have writen, but I'm done waitin'...
I'll have my Unlimited Rubi with a manual trany and slate interior by next week.
But it will be an nice new black '06, with a known to be tried and true, reliable I-6 instead.
As a matter of fact when I was talking to the dealer I made the arangements right then and there to get the '06.
It's what I was gonna get to begin with before I found out about the four door JKs anyhoo

And one more thing...I was reminded of something my Dad (God rest his soul) always said, "Never buy the first year
of a new model vehicle because they haven't had all the bugs worked out of them yet."

March/April really isn't that far away. Maybe it will be sooner as they are starting to pump these Rubi's out. I personally would hold off. Again, I have both a TJ and a JK.

Stock TJ versus Lifted JK

Your picture was perfect timing. I was just discussing the "Vulnerable Muffler" on the JK vs the gas tank on a TJ and had to call my buddy in from the shop to point it out. Thanks for helping me prove a point.

Yeh, that muffler looks pretty tucked away in comparison to that big ole gas tank. I didn't realize it myself until I took the picture.

Default JK, not till 2008!

I can't wait to pick up my JK, but not till 2008 or 2009, when all the problems of a $28,000 SUV are worked out...

or, most of them anyway...

I think most of the initial issues are already worked out. Who knows what others may pop up, though. I figured that is what my warranty was for and went for it.

That's exactly how I am feeling.
