I actually JUST came back from Vegas 5 days ago. I didn't do the casinos and all that jazz... what I did do is go and explored the country. Things I recommend you to check out : Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam,and last but not least the dune buggy experience . I rented a car while i was there and went everywhere. It was waaaaay cheaper than cabbing it everywhere. While I was driving about I noticed they had PINK (sorry) Jeep tours. Google pink jeep tours in vegas and you shall be surprised. PM me for more info

You can rent a JKU from Fox Rental cars.
Check out Red Rock Canyon, Depending on weather (snow) you can make wheeler pass which cuts through the Spring mountain range, its a light trail so a stock JK has no problem and its cool to go from the desert into the mountains where the scenery changes vastly. Valley of Fire is cool to check out as well (its about 45min north of the city). Pink Jeep tours, Sun buggy rentals, tons of stuff to do in this town.

No experience with them but there's this Jeep Tours
Pink jeep tours looks more like bus trips, unless I missed something.
Thank all of you for the info. Now I need to figure out the best Ham radio freqs to program into my handheld for the trip.

recently returned to Pa from that area. Only decent wheeling I know of there is in ST george Ut about an hr and a half away. The next town over hurricane has a jeep tour/outdoors shop. I believe they do trips thru "lil Moab" right out of ST george. It is a nice run with a ton of good views and other side stuff to do. wish I still had a phone book- I would get you the number to the place.
Lil Moab was very fun some weekends we would have 3 or more sepperate groups of 15-25 vehicles running it. lots of trails and side trails with great views.
just remember if your staying in Utah overnight bring your own beer from Az or vegas

You looking for scenery or trails? We have a ton of basic trails, old mines near by that are fun and interesting to check out. There is a lot of history here you just have to really look for it.
Mount charleston has angel peak, few mines there. If you head towards jean there are a ton of trails and mines, be careful there. Those mines are active and many of the miners are protective but if you approach them right you will be ok and get to see some cool things.
There is gold butte area, Nelson's landing, tie rod canyon, strawberry ridge, can head over to Pahrump and hit parts of Death Valley or up and around gass peak. Old turquoise mine there. Come to think of it that trail might be closed due to the rain.
There are a good number of jeepers here and several clubs but some with poor comms.
For your ham check out Nevada shooters. There are a bunch of hams there that love to talk shop.
Hope you have a great time.
If you see a rescue green jk with a flag on the cb antenna out back that would be me.
