IMHO -- it's the "zone" they are IN... Driving paying attention or Driving Distracted ! Generally over 50% Wave back.

Small town here, everybody waves at everybody.
when we go on a road trip, the waving gets cut way back though, but still wave on the farm roads

When I'm driving a Jeep, I've waved at all CJ, YJ, TJ, JK, and now JL jeeps. This goes back to my first CJ in the '80s.

Ok, this will make a lot of folks mad, but the wave started to die when the 4 Dr came out, a Jeep driver waves, then they realize they just waved to a soccer mom with a load of kids in a Jeep school bus.

Ok, funny to me, but I had to write it

I got a salute the other day, that was different, but I took it as a wave

That's sad, but true. Modified and trail-used jeeps wave without fail, but you'll never get a wave out of a bone stock and clearly unused 4 door.

I agree on things changing with all the Soccer Mom's driving 4 Doors.
I pretty much wave at everyone where I live.
I meet the same lady every morning going to work. She drives a JKU that looks to be lifted a little. She always waves.

Default The wave isn't dead!

Just yesterday I was in my Jeep with a friend of mine and he commented that there were jeeps all over the place and wondered how I can drive and pay attention while waving at everyone constantly. One guy had such a smile on his face as he waved at an intersection. I knew he was just as into it as I am and you could tell that he was just happy to be out in his Jeep Keep it up and keep it alive my friend and wave even if they don't. They'll get it sooner or later! Happy Jeeping!

I find it depends a lot on where you are, even from town to town it can be a big difference. I like waving, there's a sense of community that comes with it. I also live in a pretty wave-dense area. Even the soccer moms wave and that's awesome
