I just bought a new trail guide for $350 on ebay. It will be here soon and I hope I'm not disappointed. I'm passing it off as a anniversary/valentine's gift for my wife who wants gps!

 

WHAT THE 'F'!!! I just paid $569, Buy It Now, three days ago. I should have been more patient, but, oh well . I should be receiving it tomorrow .

How much is the software? Where can you buy it?

 

Through Garmin website and I heard REI, I plan on buying the topo maps within a few months.

 

It's at REI and it's a National Geographic just ask someone in the store to show you the Topo Software.

 

Don't buy the Nat Geographic topo software if you want to load it on the Garmin. They have a couple different version of topo from Garmin. Topo and Topo 24k.

The regular Topo mapset covers all of the lower 48 in a lower resolution. Topo 24k comes in 3 flavors (east, west, and central) . It offers much higher resolution maps, but only for the National Parks in each of those regions.

With Garmins, you can relatively easily switch back and forth between streets and topo depending on what you want to see.

Hope one of you gets it and don't run each other up! Mine will be here tomorrow. I hope I get what I'm thinking. Mine for $350 "buy it now"seems too good to be true. I got lucky I hope!
