The 1001st Cobra 75 install
But only the Third one that I've seen done in the center console (I'm sure there are more as I am NOT all seeing
). Anyway I wanted it out of the way and mounting under the glove box didn't look all that sturdy so here is what I came up with. I mounted the remote unit to the inner side of the center console, you can see it on the right side about half way up in the first pic.

I used a couple tiny button head bolts, you can not see them when the console is in place, as you can see I missed on the first hole. Then I ran the short mic cable up through the console support and then through the black center piece, had to drill through both. I did not use the plate to hold the plug grommet, I just drilled a 3/4" hole (smaller than the plate opening) and put the grommet right in the console.

Now all I have to do is find a spot to hang the hand set.

You might want to consider a "Gear Keeper" -I don't have one but it looks cool.
I'm guessing you already know about the Cool Tech VersaMount

That's neat,

Yes
I am no expert, but I was just reading the Firestik - Tech Doc Site so I figured I would pass some info along. It said that you should try to get channel 1 and 40 to be as close as possible to the same SWR for the best tune. They also mentioned that you should shoot for under 2 (point 14 and 46 http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs/63Things.htm)
