OK, guys. I'm not big into CB radios, but I know they're a near necessity for group trail rides.
My dad hooked me up with an old Royce when I found the transmit transistor toasted in my $10 craigslist bargain. ($10 wasted)
It is only 23 channels. Do groups often use one of the higher channels?
I found a RatShack TRC-521 CB on clearance that included weather band with alert. (instead of having PA function) Also, it had channel buttons on the mic, which wouldn't really matter once the group chose a channel, but it's a feature.
Which you you choose and why?
(Yeah, yeah, I know there are other options out there, but I'm wanting opinions between these two options.)
Thanks.

I have the uniden and mounted it under the drivers seat....... easy to get to the volume...
We meet at trail head and then put it most likely on channel 4 and leave it there so we are all on the same channel all day!!!!
Also mounted the ex. speaker by the drives head in the padding by the roll cage....
