Another DIY antenna mount
I just made a clone of the cooltech gate mount using 1/8" x 1-1/4" aluminum bar stock. It's not as stiff as I'd like, so I'll probably have a gusset welded on. But I kind of don't want to mess with it.
My swr is 1:1 just about flat from a few below 1 and just starts going up a few past 40.
Currently using 4' k40 top loaded whip, but it won't clear the garage, so I'm going to have to switch to a 3' fire stick.
Pics to come.

I think if I remove one of the shim washers at the top it will cut down on the flex, but I drove it the way it is and it didn't bang on the top at all.

I added another "L" to cut down on the flexing, but like I said above, I think if I remove a washer I won't need it.

Materials used:
1- 3' length of 1/8" x 1-1/4" flat aluminum bar stock (you really onlyu need 9-10", so you have room to experiment) - about $7
8 - I used a mix of 1/4" and 5/16" because I wasn't sure what size would fit over the stock bolts. - under $1
1- 3/8" SO-239 stud that I had laying around - Around $5 on shipped on ebay, probably $10 at a truck stop
If I remake another one I'll probably make it shorter so the 90* is just above the top bolt like the cooltech, as it sits with a 4' antenna it's 91", I need to come down about 13" to clear my garage door lol
