Default Antenna Ground Question

I have the teraflex spare tire carrier antenna mount. I grinded off the powder coat and attached the ground to the 2nd hole then ran the wire thru the tailgate and bolted it to the frame of the Jeep. Should that be good enough? Or do i have to run the ground wire directly off the antenna or antenna stud?

That should be enough. I just crimped a ring terminal on the ground and used the bold that attaches the bracket to the tail gate.

That should work fine, just make sure to check your SWR to confirm

If you don't have the firering connector and just have a standard PL259 connector, you didn't need to grind anything off. The mount doesn't have to be grounded with that type setup. It'll WORK the way you did it, but generally, I try not to scuff things up unless I have to. LOL

I attached a ring terminal to my ground as well. I have this cable along with a stud mount.

That's a nice cable right there.

What I liked about the cable was the smaller ring terminal allowed me to fit it into the cloth tube that runs on the hinge between the body and the tailgate. Makes for a very clean look.

That cable is the Firestik Fire-Flex 18' cable model K-8.
