Antenna Ground Question

Hi RedneckJeep,

I want to make sure I install my antenna correctly.

I have the Terfaflex spare tire bracket and the Firering connector.

Do I need to remove the bracket coating underneath the antenna mount hole and also at one of the bolt holes that secure the Teraflex bracket to the tailgate?

Mounting my CB, A Midland 1001z with a 4' firestick "Firefly with a Liberty 18' mini S plug coax assembly. The coax has the regular screw on connectors on both ends ( are these the PL259s?) I made my own tire carrier mount made out of aluminum bar. And used a firestick K-4A Stud (antenna mount package) but did not use there stainless angle mount.

Do I need to ground the antenna tire mount I made?
Im sorry for the hijack just thought it was appropriate here instead of starting yet another thread. And nope, Im not electronic savy.

Default SWR Tuning

When you're tuning your SWR make sure the Jeep is well away from any houses or cars. The wave length on an HF frequency is huge and the near by object will screw up your readings. Also, make sure you climb inside the Jeep and close the doors when checking the readings. An open door will have the same effect.
