I have the antenna mount similar to what Qtec sells and have 36" and 24" Firestik antennas. I use the 36" one with a spring for trails, and the 24" one for everyday driving. The latter doesn't even clear the hard top, but reception is decent and I can transmit at close range. I park in a parking garage daily and even with the 36" mounted it cleared the entrance and ceilings. My own garage was a different story... Standard 7' opening. Even with the spring removed, the 36" sticks up about an inch too high for my own garage. With the 36" and a spring, I could pull it over with a bungee cord and clear my garage, but constantly hopping in and out to deal with it became a pain.
Thanks

I think I'm going to go with a quick disconnect and a 4' firestik

I have a 3' Firestik that sits just below the top of my soft top and I transmit and receive just fine and still fit in the garage...thinking about getting a 5' just to use off road though...

i have commercial doors on my home garage as i wanted to be sure i could clear the garage doors with any suv or other vehicle i would own with either a mountain bike on a roof mount or a sea kayak, as a result the builder had to go with commercial doors but i'm glad i did it...

i got the quick disconnect and on the rare occasions i park in the 6'+/- ceiling public garage i'll just remove the antenna ahead of time
