Not a bad approach. How much movement do you get off road? I wonder if I could mod a bar like the pics earlier and tie this mount in?

Great ideas everyone!!!

Zero. The bracket loop that goes around the footman's loop is screwed together at the open end and the square tubing and HD Velcro at the back holds it tight. There are no drawbacks to this mounting, other than you can't turn your mirror upside down.

Does that bounce around much? From the pics it looks like its only secured to the cross bar?

Jut so you know, as far as power goes, unless somebody has gotten inside a radio with his "magic screwdriver" a small CB has the same amount of "power" and a large CB. I mean 4 watts is.....well 4 watts.

The only other way a standard CB will have more power is when it has SSB in it. Then it can tx upwards of 12 watts.....legally.

Now I'm not saying a larger CB isn't nicer. Bigger, higher quality components can make for a better tx and rx. Modulation, as well as the receivers in larger rigs can be better. It's just that they're ALL only allowed by the FCC to put out 4 watts AM.

Unless your trying to run an export radio.

I take it you mean a 10m export radio that has been illegally modified to talk on the CB freqs? In which case is not a "CB" radio but is still in reality a HAM radio.

Vegas and Texas shops sell tweaked radios as well as can mod existing radios. I run a tweaked radio in my TJ and a regular unit in my JK. TJ gets more than twice the range of my JK unit. I'd like to get a small standard unit that has been tweaked but couldn't find a good mounting place.

Can you get a close up of how you have it mounted to the footman loop?
