I would find out what exactly your friends are using first - if they're using FRS handsets, then that's what I would suggest you go with as well.
If none of your wheeling friends are using CB, then there's no point in you installing one.

Unless you want it for another form of contact if you breakdown and cell phones might not work. might reach a passing trucker or another 4X4 for help. not saying you should go out alone
