I too have had the Cobra75 WXST in my TJ for almost 6 years now and like it well enough. If you go this route, I would higly recommend getting an external speaker as the tiny one inside the handset is simply too harsh and not audible enough under noise conditions. Here are some pics of it in my TJ...

The other drawback for me is that it doesn't have a PA function on it. And, if I can find a viable way to mount a full size CB in my JK, I will.

I think you misunderstood me. In my opinion, the sound quality of the speaker inside the handset is harsh on the ear and hard to hear in loud conditions (i.e. highway driving). The external speaker helps out a lot and you can get plenty of volume out of it.

That's a nice looking mount. I guess I'll go ahead and order. One quick question though, Is the antenna mount grounded in any way? Do you use a No-ground-plane system or is the mount grounded to the chassis? Awesome looking system, just want to know before I order. Thanks.

Wow, those pictures do a much better job of explaining how this mount works.

But what about selling the mount with and without the antenna. I have a 4' firestick antenna off my old Jeep and can reuse that. I would go for the new cable housing to make sure there are no nicks or kinks in it. I know it doesn't save much money, but it all helps in the end.

Just a thought, maybe there are more people out there like me.

I ran from my radio external speaker jack to the AUX input on the radio of my JK and I can listen on 7 speakers now LOL

WOW, Really nice job thinking through all the issues on where to mount a CB antenna. And then mfg and mktg the kit, I give you alot of credit! I need a CB to go on the Jeep club runs. I liked your mount so much, I just ordered it. Sweet. Now I will have to search the barn high and low for my old radio shack 40 channel...I think it might have got towed away in the back of my old VW bus...

The antenna will look cool on the JK, but the only thing I am worried about is the added height for the parking garage at work every am. I may end up unscrewing the stick and only use it for the Jeep runs where you need to communicate for with stucks jeeps (hopefully not mine...):toung:

Let's see, tow hooks, straps, CB, big tires, yep I think this is the last item I need. I wonder if the Patriot Jeepers will let a JK run with them?

Ciao! Ted

New member, but I've been looking and listening since i bought my 4d rescue green sahara in November '06.
Today I installed the Ultramount CB antenna kit. I ordered it off Ebay and it arrived a few days later. I finally got around to mounting it today. The directions and pictures we helpful, but I still found it fairly complicated. My other problem was that there were still very small gaps where the mount fits through the license plate assembly. I had to put some silicone sealant to prevent water from getting in there, especially with the amount of rain we get here.
