Default CB & Gauge Cluster

Just got finished wiring in the Watchdog TM2 engine temp monitor. I've positioned it under my CB, with the Scangauge II above it and the reversing cam screen to the right. It looks a bit mad in the pics but it's actually very clean in reality and puts everything within easy eye sight. Here's some rather dark iPhone pics but they give you an idea.

looks like you've really had to pull that mirror down at an extreme angle to get all the stuff mounted above it....
its interesting but i had to FLIP my mirror upside down to improve the rear view over the seats...i don't think id really want to lower it.

aren't you getting coolant temperatures from the scangauge ? do you really need the TM2 ? Have you experienced over heating issues ?

Is there something wrong w/ the factory coolant temp gauge that i don't know of ?
i live in (HOT) Texas & have never seen any over heating issues.

LOL! Nothing wrong with the Scangauge coolant readings but they don't alarm you if the engine overheats for some reason. Is it necessary? Absolutely not, I just love gauges. By the sounds of your user ID, like you, I'm a pilot and love instrumentation in the cabin. That said, my diesel has been running a tad warm and my battery fried a few months ago. I can position the sensor of the TM2 on anything I want and it will monitor it's temp and alarm me if that part gets over a pre-set temp. Useful to have but not really necessary...

The mirror is in the factory position. I haven't lowered it at all. However, I've mounted a 300mm convex mirror over the top of the stock mirror that gives me a panorama view out of the back and one side window. The position is stock, though. The angle of the photos maybe make it look lower.

Blue skies!!

im w/ you - like gauges too.

i wondered if the TM2 (when i watched the video/install) if it measured coolant temp or something else.
I just assumed they were showing the ground wire being bolted down.

i could use 1/2 a dozen of those things....

Yep, you can bolt it to anything you like and it will show you the actual live temp. I figured I'd probably use it for various stuff over the years.

Well, one last instrument on it's way and then my mobile office is pretty much complete. I need a vehicle recording camera as I spend 5+ hours on the road every day. Choice-wise, you're limited to about a million cheap Chinese models, which will have little or no warranty or customer service, or the Garmins. Managed to get a good deal on GDR35 which will sit perfectly to the left of the CB. And that will have to be the last piece of the puzzle as I'm now out of in-cab real estate.

man a jeep must be pricey to drive (as a primary/daily driver) in the UK.

IM curious - are there a lot of CB's in the UK ? It's a dying breed in States even on the inter-state highways (motorways).

Ive thought about a camera...but fear it could be used against me (speeding or "dicing" thru traffic)...why are dash cams so popular in Europe ? Insurance fraud ?

At $150 for a tank of diesel, every car is expensive to run now.

CBs are dead in the UK except for specialist activities. Mine is only used when off-roading, at which point it's the primary form of comms between the Jeeps. Otherwise, you'll hardly hear a peep from it.

The dash cams are seen as adding security to your car. Yes, there's a lot of insurance fraud going on at the moment. In tough economic times the scams become even more prevalent. They can also help out if you're given a speeding ticket incorrectly by an uncalibrated automatic speed camera, as long as you have one that is GPS capable.
