CB hook up problem
Getting engine interference coming threw the cb.And some werd stuf going on with the ingine off.
opening the door taking the key in and out of the ignition. stuff like that.
But this part goes away in a minute or two if the key is left out and the door is closed. Also when tuning the antenna the meter goes to zero on all channels
power from battery

cb ground

mount with ground strap

ground from mount to body

Hook up at cb

I checked all grounds with a test light and they were all good

Yep.....you should be good to go, as long as the antenna (stinger) itself is not physically touching any of the mount. Now you might want to do a continuity/resistance test on the coax connectors as they can be shorted, or can short out easily as well....even new, right outta the bag. Find a good bolt on the frame of the jeep somewhere and see if you have continuity all the way up to the coax ground at the radio.
Ok I messed around with this some today.
I now have the power wires twisted to gather and both are going to the battery.Did not help at all
Some things I noticed.
With the antenna disconnected at the radio. Engine running. All the engine noise was gone. But there is static. The static is real bad on channel one and lessons going up to channel 40.If I turn on the NB/ANL switch the static goes away on all channel. The static is also the same with the ingine off
If I disconnect the mic the static goes away. Engine running or not

I just installed my Cooltech Antenna kit exactly like you did and have some engine noise as well until I turn squelch to about 1/4 way. With engine off I can turn squelch off.
I'm gonna see about moving the ground off the bolt on the Subwoofer and connect it directly to the frame and see if that helps.
The antenna setup is working great. I just got a radio check from at least 2 miles away and he said I was loud and clear.
This is with a 3' FIrestik II .

Do you have florescent lights or other electrical equipment nearby? Are you near high power lines? Is the coax running near the fuel pump?
These CB's are AM radios and pick up just about anything floating around out there. Even the cleanest installs can have noise but if your's is really bad you can try using a torrid coil on the power wires and try re-routing the coax.
