All the controls are in the handset. There is a small box that gets mounted behind your dash. Just unplug your mic, throw it in your trunk and your done. Great for the small amount of mounting space we have. A lot of guys get an external speaker for better sound quality. One guy just plugged it into his radio aux jack and the sound comes over your stock speakers. This is the one I will be getting.

I'm not to good with explaining the techno mumbo jumbo but:
On some antennas the tip is adjustable so that you can adjust the length of the wires coiled in/around it. Basically you want it to be the wavelength (or half wave, can't remember) of the frequency you're transmitting on. It's measured as swr (standing wave reading). The lower the swr the less signal is reflected back to the radio so more power is going out. There is usually info on this on the antenna package. As long as the ant. has a good ground it's not worth fussing over it for a 4watt radio.

ive been a CB er for at least 40 yrs. havent had mine out in the last 5 yrs. but if your swr is real high u can smoke your radio. some radios have a built in swr meter . you want a low swr some antennas u trim off some wire on the antenna itself or loosen a allen key at the base and adjust the lenth of antenna that way. don't have your coax all coiled up if possible. leave a drip loop on your coax you don't want water in your connector to short out. also they talk pretty nasty on the radio in some places like truck stops so cover small ears 
its a great hobby ive talked all over the world on mine with some help with power. side band radios are good for this. there are frequencys below and above and in between channels illegal unless you have the proper licenses from the FCC / ham radio operators have enjoyed and provided service to the country in cases of emergency's they used to patch telephone calls via landlines , weather reports & updates of approaching storms you name it

Like the last guy said, there are better options. The main problem with the Cobra 75 is everything is in the mic. My mic gets thrown around quite a bit and if you happen to drop it and it breaks....well, that's an expensive mic to replace.

Even if you don't buy from them, check out this web site. These guys have a few great videos that will explain the basics in selecting a radio and antenna. They also provide info on mounting everything.

It is true other radios are better than the Cobra 75, but for a weekend wheeler rig it would work great. I have been running the Cobra 75 for years and I have not broken one. I installed this into my JK as soon as I got home, have mine hooked up to a firestick SWR'd it and was good to go. It is a good setup for someone who is not really into the whole CB world but would like the opotunity to listen in on long road trips or speak to buddies on the trail, just don't expect to swing to china for conversation b/c the range is not very strong, I can get about 4 miles out of what I have setup, providing the its not the hills.
