CB noise

Yo Ken how are you doing, sorry to here of your noise problem, LOL just turn down the volume. Secondly try running a jumper ground wire from the radio conection wire to your battery directly, see if this improves your noice issue. Maybe even thicker shielding ground wire. My 4 cents sir have a good day
With the ground jumper, are you talking about running the radio ground all the way back to the battery or running the radio case to ground?
I did more research and talked to Walcott again. When I disconnect the antennea from the base the noise goes away. Also when I connect my old antennea (the one that you and I tried to tune in moab) I still have no noise. I may have an antennea problem. I'm going to return the firefly and get a new one. Untill then I'll try to tune the 3' firestick for this radio.

Hi Bullfrog, I'm doing great. Got Mitchell all moved in to his college apt. last weekend. I would have much preferred being up in Monache with the group though.

Where do you have the antenna mounted. Antennas have to have a good ground too. They need to be mounted to good solid metal surface. Some guys have grounded their antennas to the frame with a wire. Inquire with your cb shop about this and see what they say after you tell them how and where your antenna is mounted.

Sounds like you have and I might have a similar problem. Seems my CB is actually picking up the RF noise generated from the Jeep CAN-bus communication. The RF static it generates has a cyclic rythym to it at times until you start the engine. Then it becomes "holy s**t".
In my case, it's coming through the antenna. Tried another antenna, antenna ground, and co-ax, I even tried a hand held unit and IT even picked up the same interference. Tried grounding the radio chasis....nada. SWR is "a match".
Does yours start making the noise as soon as you open your door and then stop after about 10 to 15 seconds? Restarts as soon as the key is inserted? Goes to "another level" when the engine is running?
Took it to a good CB shop in my area and they were stumped. They were opening new components up and letting me try them in the shop. Said mine was the only JK they'd had issues like this with.
I haven't had any success finding a fix for mine so I just turn up the squelch about 2/3. Works fine for trail rides, I just can't get out over about 1 mile on the road.
See if you can borrow someone's hand held unit and see if it picks up the static. That was the kicker on mine. I'd be interested to know if your problem is similar to mine.
