Well I just picked mine up tonight. I'm going to have to pick up an 18 ft antenna cable and put a longer 4ft firestik on when the time comes. I had a chance to fire it up and play with the features a bit. Let me tell you guys that yes its a bit of cash to pick it up but well worth the design, limited edition status and the features. With 10 weather freq's its well worth the money to pick it up. I will post some pics up when I get this hog installed!

Nice, sucks I'm in Michigan. Maybe I'll find someone around here to do it.

well assuming i don't get a hold of cobra "tech support" tomorrow i may very well head down to tacoma to talk to rainstate's buddy. I can't use the calibration function and all i want is an answer to some questions about the onboard swr meter. Anyway it's all installed overhead with an arizona rocky road mount and the ultra mount in the license plate bracket for the 4' firestick. I still have to fab up some steel brackets to slide the radio closer to the windshield because as it sits the front is about four inches away from my face in my normal driving position. I'll let you know how it goes. Apart from not fully functioning it's a sweet radio.

Sounds like you might just be having the same problem as I did with the first radio I had. Did you run the three self tests that come with the radio

yep, all the self tests passed, and it receives well, I think. Haven't tried to transmit apart from my attempts at the cal because I don't trust the built in SWR meter and don't want to fry the radio from transmitting with an excessive SWR condition.

Ok, sounds to me that you need to adjust your antenna. Have you tried looking at this web site, it has a video on how to tune your radio.

I tried tuning the antenna for awhile and it didn't seem to do a whole lot for the lack of cal meter swing. the reason i suspect a radio problem is i can get to the cal mark on ch 1 but when i try to check swr following the cobra instructions and leaving the ptt keyed it does nothing. just wanted to talk to a tech before i tore apart my license plate again trying to get a better ground, i figured < 1/2 ohm from the antenna mount to another point on the body was acceptable, but i really don't know too much about radio systems.
