Default Cobra 75 install Questions

Just curious for all of you cobra 75 owners who mounted the hide-away box under the glove box.

Do you guys have any interference issues??? There are a lot of electronics in that little area (Radio, blower motor, hazard switches), so I want to see before I go nuts.

And is the zip tie install good enough, or should I drill through the metal plate there?

And as for running the antenna cable, does it matter where I route it? Will it pick up interference? Can I run up the roll bar on the driver's side, across the sound bar, and back down on the driver's side windsheild plastic???

I get no interference where it is. I was able to run my cable along the passenger side the length of my 2 dr.

Vehicles are built to have very little EMI.....dont worry about it. Just make sure you antenna isnt shorted to ground and you will be good to go

Oh and I have the zip ties working perfect. Screw into the metal if you want. Just make sure the cover fits back on before you make any holes.

mine is mounted below the glove box on the lower dash panel. Same radio. Which antenna did you buy?

Great... I'll wire it up today (Assuming Fed Ex doesn't postpone again... )

I bought the cooltech setup.... Seemed like a decent deal for a complete kit...

I used the cooltech mount. I ran the wire down the drivers side and crossed underneath the seat with some other wires. I went up along the center console then pushed through to underneath the glove box. I drilled one side into the metal there, and used a chunk of metal strapping and used that for the other side (wish I had pics of it to show) that way it's a little further from the blower there. Don't seem to have any interference issues. Working good so far, nabbing a SWR meter later tomorrow to double check.

I am using zip-ties and so far so good. I attempted to drill but didn't have much luck. I ran the cable along the passenger side in my 4 door. Not much extra is under the dash, so it worked out perfectly. I have no interference from the location and my SWR is 1.5 on 1, 19 and 40. (Firestik II 3' antenna).

Pics are in my gallery.

Nice...

I started installing it yesterday... but my antenna was late (I hate FedEx...).

I started finishing it today.... but it started raining....

Tomorrow morning before work I'll have to finish wiring her up so I can start calibrating it after work
