Default Cobra HH Road Trip Radio

Anyone on here use the Cobra Handheld RoadTrip radio? What is your experiences with it? Decent radio for trail rides? I bought it, and it just came in today. Well after i ordered it, i thought maybe i should have went with a regular compact CB and firestik. I just hate having a cb mounted that i will only use for rides. But if the handheld is not much good, i wont even open it. And just resale it lol. Thanks guys!!

Cool Hand Held Cobra

For the past two years I have been using a Cobra hand held 38WXST. On the trail it is good for spotting, the real reason I bought it, and when moving with a group it can reach out about 500 yards. (Tip: for best range you have to keep the antenna vertical. For reasons I have never figured out, most folks hold the radio so that the antenna is parallel to the ground which can cut the range to less that 100 yards) If I need longer range I add the optional mag mount external antenna, which I tape to the roof with Gorilla Tape, and plug in the optional hand held mic. I have reached out as far as a mile with this configuration. BUT, by this time you have spent a lot of money on a hand held CB. You might want to consider buying the Cobra 75 WXST which is very small and can be disconnected and placed in your glove box in about 15 seconds. The 75 WXST was designed for Jeeps and I had one in 3 of the 4 Jeeps I have owned. They are rugged and can take a beating. DF
