Did I blow up my Cobra 75?
I ran the power to the battery and originally ran the ground to the battery; tried that for a few days and then changed it to ground right to the dash frame behind glovebox and I have not noticed any difference. I also rechecked the SWR and it remained the same.
However I have not achieved as good a SWR as Skippman; I'm about 1.4 on channel 1 and about 1.9 on 40 and I'm using a 3' firestik.

well i just took my cb apart and it doesnt look to great. there is a silver thing (it sort of looks like a capacitor but could be the 4w transistor) has burst and burnt. not sure if that is something i can fix
. can you normally buy replacement trasistors for cb's?
so skippman you might want to unscrew you cb and just look for a burn thing inside.

actually now that i lookat it i can see the transistors and they look fine, i think its a burst capacitor

Think we've got it sorted. Looks like the cable that runs between the mic and the "radio" is damaged. We can actually get it to reproduce the problem just by moving the cord. Since the guts of the radio are actually in the handset I'll have to get a whole new radio. Fortunatly it's under warrenty so we'll be RMA'ing it.
