educate me on cb's?
Never even really touched one... have no idea what all you need to do to operate it.. seen some stuff about needing a call sign?
Only radios I've ever messed with are military... is it the same, just put it on a certain chan. and yap away?
What are some good, decently priced ones... looking at the cobra 75 but if theres something a little better, would like to hear your input...
I would like something easy to use/install and have weather related chan. on it

interested in this too...I only mall crawl so I wouldn't need one for trails but was told it would be beneficial since I do a lot of interstate driving and they know where the police/accidents/backups are at.
Not much to really know. Project Jk has a nice write up an affordable one ( the one I installed )

It is really nice to have. I usually turn them on while Highway driving on channel 19. The truckers are great with accidents/police.
Make sure you get the SWR meter so you can tune it in to get the best coverage. As for a handle, I think thats just up to whatever you want!
I just use my handle from the forums.

No callsign or registration needed. Pretty much all radios put out the same amount of power which is very little due to FCC regulations. A more expensive radio may get you a better speaker or a little something else that's useful but mostly you are paying for silly voice mods and flashy knobs that make people think the radio is actually functionally better. It's a great thing for trail use if you ride with others who have them. I wouldn't want to rely on one for a call for help.
The real benefit to the Cobra 75 is that everything is in a small package that you can remove quickly and store out of sight or out of your vehicle. You pay around twice as much for the convenience though. If you don't mind mounting a radio the lower end are fine at around $35-40.
I went with Uniden's Bearcat 880 and I didn't have any prior experience in CB's either. The bearcat 880 is only 6 inches long as opposed to the Cobra 29LX which has a 9 inch length. Also, careful with the Cobra 75.. while the compactness is ideal.. if you drop it.. you drop the radio. I just couldn't get passed that hurdle when I was looking. Did some homework before I purchased and can honestly say am in LOVE with my radio!
I did a write up on it that is about 11 posts down from your thread here. I have pictures too. A weather alert/mode was priority with me too and it hasn't failed me yet... in fact it exceeds my expectations! Especially about a month ago when I had a Tornado heading right at me for about two hours.
Don't let the install intimidate you... it was extremely easy. I followed the install write up on the project-jk.com website and that made it a breeze. I bought everything I needed from CBworld.com. They have a Jeep package you can buy that has everything.. however I opted for the Bearcat 880 instead again because of the radios physical length. I have a 5ft Firestick antennae on the spare in the back. If you have hard top, like me, you are going to want the top of the antennae (1/3rd of it) to exceed the top of the vehicle for transmission purposes.
Hope that helps.
