Default External speaker

I'm sure this has been discussed but I figured I would ask again. I'm purchasing the cool tech package with the cobra 75 with fire stick antenna. I would like to get an external speaker to hear the chatter better. Any recommendations on what to buy and where to mount the speaker (pictures would be helpful). Thanks guys!

Default External Speaker

I will try and post pictures later, but I actually attached the external speaker to the sound bar. It is directly behind the overhead lights on the soundbar facing foward. The only time you see it is if you look in the rear view mirror, but it is small enough that it is hard to see. I think it is a 20W speaker by Uniden. Bought it at local audio store in Manassas, VA. Like I said, I will try to post pictures later.

Motorola communications speaker. Sounds great. Can always find them on eBay or at ham radio swap meet

Don't know if it's too late to change who you buy your 75 from but I bought a Cobra 75 kit for Wrangler at rightchannelradio that included a speaker, I got it all together yesterday and it works great, even with the stereo on. I did buy the Versa Mount 2 from Cool Tech as it's the perfect match for the stealthy look of the whole kit.

I put the small speaker from the kit in front of the gear selector, seen here:

The rest of the unit is in the center console hidden away, including the power plug.

I have the Cobra 75 and an external speaker (5 watt). It works well when I have the jeep buttoned up (top/doors on). But when it's naked, forget about it! I can't hear squat! I just bought a new external (Cobra 20 watt) that has a 3.5mm jack for a mono headphone. I would get an external for sure if you plan on getting the Cobra 75. But make sure it's got plenty of power!
