Finally!!!
After some great advice and info from all of you, I have finally ordered a Cobra 75 and an Ultramount from Cool Tech.
I can't wait til it gets here to install it.
Thanks to all for the information you posted in this CB section.

After a few hours of web searching and thread reading, I ordered one too. The cool tech kit with the ultra mount antenna kit for the license plate holder.
Another website, Right Channel radio, also sells a Cobra 75 all-in-one kit at a lower price. Then why did I go with this one? Mainly because of all the mount solutions I really liked the ultra mount best. It looks to me to be the most factory looking install. The mount hardware is mostly hidden behind the license plate, and cable entry is thru there also. And I liked the mic mount kit they include.
I did order some accessories from Right Channel tho. I am getting their swr meter with the adapter cable for about $25, and a firestick heavy duty antenna spring. I have read that the Wilson flex antenna they sell is more resilient on the trail, than the rigid firestik FL 4 that I am getting in the kit. However, the FL4 is supposedly easy to tune and an efficient top loaded antenna. This way I get the best of both worlds. I am also getting their best Cobra external speaker kit to plug into the Cobra 75, as the internal mic speaker is said to be hard to hear over jeep noise. BTW Right Channel includes an swr meter/cable and an external speaker in their kit (altho not as good as the ones I ordered). They also include access to their tuning video and other installation instructional materials online.
So did you get yours installed, and how is it working?

I am getting the ultramount system, which I understand now includes a ground strap for the antenna because "Chrysler is painting them too good now". I plan to learn from your woes. I will install the antenna then hook up everything without hiding the cable. Then I will tune and test it with engine running, etc. to see if I have your problem. If it all works out, then I will run the cable inside and retest and retune again. I will let you know if I learn anything from this.

Oh yeah. I saw that thread when I was trying to read thru everything. It seems like some people have had no probs with this unit whatsoever, and others had trouble like you.
