Question Fire Flex Fire Ring 18' Coax

First off I am new to CBs. I just bought a Cobra 29 LX LCD and am now buying coax and an antenna. I am going with either the Fire Stik II or the Fire Fly in a 4' length.

Now for the coax with the Fire Ring, where the heck did you guys buy yours as everywhere I look online is out of stock???

Appreciate the help more than you can imagine, and any tips are more than welcome!

Marty

Get the firefly because it's a lot more flexible so you won't need a spring mount off road. Got my antenna and fire ring coax from Cooltechllc dot com. Don't know if they will ship to CA but you can ask!

here is where I got mine CB world will help you out give them a call.
this is from an old post of mine when i got my CB:Uniden 520 xl $39.00 off ebay, new
Here is what I got from CBworld, it works perfect for me. The 18' coax has a PL259 connecter on one end that goes into the radio and a lug for the stud assembly for the antenna. I snaked it thru the tailgate no problem. I also ran a short ground wire from the tub of the jeep to the frame , I couldn't get my SWR's down until I did that. Grounding the antenna mount is most important. With the lug type connecter on this cable it has its own ground wire to screw on to the mount.
AUD402 Adjustable Universal CB Radio Mounting Bracket
$6.99
Everhart TSM4-R Four Foot SUEPR FLEX WAVECB Antenna , this is super flexable good antenna, trail tested
$11.50 . It does need to be tuned for the right swr, you will need a SWR meter and you will end up cutting a few inches of the wire off to make it right. You just take the pastic top off the top of the antenna and pull the inside wire out little by little and check the swr as you cut it to the right length.
KCB5SS Stainless Steel Lug Stud Antenna Mount $4.95
PL8X18 18 Foot RG8X Coax $16.99
K1A PUSH-N-TWIST Quick Disconnect Replacement for R1A $13.99

Good luck and have fun

Thanks for all the help. I went with the CoolTech gate mount kit because it looks pretty complete and there are good reviews about it. I would have done what you suggested but I would end up setting my Jeep on fire, I'm not good with wiring. I needed something simple and this kit seems like it will do the trick.

A few questions: 1) Do you need to ground the CoolTech Gatemount bracket or does it act as a ground itself? 2) Do all of you gurus wire your CB power positive to the battery directly (Like the project-jk install threads suggest) or wire it into the fuse box?

Thanks

You will most likely need to make a seperate ground path with the gate mount because the tail gate kind of floats and the ground will be on and off alot without a direct path. People wire their CBs direct to the battey so they can listen with the Jeep off while others get spotted up obsticles or just to listen to another group during a run.
