Default Which firestik quick disconnect?

Firestik makes 2 different antenna quick disconnects. One is an internal locking (K-1A) and the other is an external locking (R-1A). The website says that they recommend using the R-1A for applications subject to vibration (supposedly it's more rugged). The only thing i see as a problem with the external locking one is that there are no wrench flats to tighten the bottom part.

Anyone using either one of these and have any problems or preferences?

thx

I have the Cool Tech antenna mount kit ( goes in license plate bracket) with quick disconnect (I think internal) works great, never comes loose.

I gave up on the QD antenna connectors. They work great untill you actually need to disconnect the antenna, then it won't come apart for crap!
Yep, I've lubed them, cleaned them, disconnected them onb a weekly basis, none of that is a guarantee.
Just carry a couple of wrenches and take the antenna off when you need to for clearance or to replace it with a taller one for long trips.
