I've got the teraflex mount, which grounds great to the tailgate. I just ran a short strap from the inside of the gate to the tub, which worked fine.

No need to wire all the way back to the mount - a ground is a ground.

Default Getting bad SWR reading need help.

Make sure that you don't have any continuity between your mount and the center pin. Just disco the cable from your radio and stick one end of your meter on the mount and the other on the base of your ant.
