Default Great location for CB Radio 2015 Rubicon

I have attached some pictures of where I mounted my uniden 510. Because of its black face it almost looks factory. I also mounted my antenna where my radio antenna used to be. With the satellite radio and 28 gigs of hard drive its makes my radio completely expendable and plus up in the mountains here in Idaho I don't receive radio stations anyway. I hope this might help someone figure out where to put their radio.

Great post and picture! I've been considering where I wanted to mount my CB but am at odds on location. I like your setup and it does look factory. Thanks for posting!

What mounting bracket is that and where did you get it? Is it a universal mount?

Default CB reply

I used the mount the radio came with. Also, the transmitter fits nicely tucked below the radio.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I've been considering getting a CB installed.

Just to clarify what all do you need to install a CB? Let me know if my shopping list is correct or if I'm missing anything:

1. CB radio
2. co-ax cable
3. antenna
4. antenna mount

... is that it? What am I missing if anything?

If I'm buying a CB with a PA function I figure all I would need extra is the PA speaker, correct?

That would be all you need. 18' of coax is good. The PA would plug into the back of the cb and you would mount it under the hood or wherever.

Very clean! Nice job. The coax run also looks to be very short (which is also a good thing).

What would be the best way to mount this? Double sided foam tape? Bolts? Something else? Thinking about using this spot to mount a 510 or 520.

If you're not going to use bolts and a bracket then use 3M Dual Lock. The type you want is one of these two:

SJ3550, Type 250 stems

SJ3551 Type 400 stems

Both will do the job well. I used it to mount this entire rig in the back of my JK.

OK thanks! I think I'm actually going to put my 520 in the console so I don't have to worry about people stealing it. That dual lock looks like the perfect solution.

Cool. I'd probably go with the 250 type if you want to be able to remove it often. It takes a fair bit of force to unlock the 250 so I'd figure the 400 would be semi-permanent mount. If you look here you'll see my ICOM handheld ham radio and GPS mic both mounted to the dash using the 250 type.. and they don't move.

Here's how I mounted my President Harry II CB.

Another pic here.
