Called you last night for on 7.270 for about 10 minutes and listened around as well. Pretty noisy up there with broadcast all around. Nothing heard from W6DAF.
But I did talk to a mobile in ID. that was almost 5/9. So the band was pretty good.

Curious, where is your shack? Part of the dwelling or garage or?

 

It's above my shop...a separate building from the house. Upstairs is storage, my reloading bench and my shack. Originally it was only supposed to be storage up there, but when I built the shop I built it with 10' walls, and put the ceiling at 8' thinking that it would be nice to have the extra room upstairs. When I started the roof I noticed that indeed there was quite a bit of room and decided to punch out an 8' wide dormer w/ a window, and that is where the shack is. The xyl was all for getting the noisy radio out of the house.........lol.

Shop, reloading bench and shack all in one, nice! Only thing missing is a retractable dome to keep the white cold stuff out.

Taking my Extra exam tomorrow. Been bugging me since I passed the General test. Wish me luck. I'll know my schedule better tomorrow for another try.
