Affordable Jeep JK Wrangler CB Radio Solution Midland Model-1001Z Write-up
The paragraph on tuning the CB antenna should work for your situation. If not, what's the specific problem/question?
And yes, you need to have an SWR meter to check your radio.
If you eventually find one, here's some tips:
1. Ensure you test with your doors closed (don't ask my why).
2. Be sure all your accessories (radio, etc.) are turned off.
3. Be sure you are not near any utility lines (electrical, telephone) as well as any other transmitting and/or receiving antennas.
You have to check on channels 1, 19, and 40.
2. Be sure all your accessories (radio, etc.) are turned off.
3. Be sure you are not near any utility lines (electrical, telephone) as well as any other transmitting and/or receiving antennas.
Pick up a SWR meter from your local Radio Shack. There are instructions that come with it which will help you tune your antenna. I've had my SWR meter for years and use it all the time with tuning friends antennas so it will pay for itself.
