Help anyone!

We have a bizzare thing happening with the CB in the Jeep. It recieves fine, clear and happy on the trails.

But, we can't transmit worth a dang. At best people might get a squelchy buzz.

However, if I step out of the Jeep and hold the antenna with my hand we broadcast crystal clear???

I run a short 4 foot antenna in the licence plate frame.

Some sort of odd ground issue with the antenna? Anyone?

Any ideas would be appreciated

 

Make sure you have a good ground to the jeep and there is no short in the coax cable or plug. Just use a multimeter to check it.
If it is not that try a different antenna.
When you grab the antenna you act as a ground.

 

yup sounds like the antenna isn't grounded properly
