I have the Cool Tech GateMount (inverted) with a 4' Firestik. I consistantly get 1.2 to 1.4 top and bottom with 1.0 in the middle. My ground wire goes all the way from the antena mount (top bolt with yellow crimp loop in first picture) to the subwoofer acorn nut. Make sure the grounded parts don't touch the antena base. :crazyeyes:

Have the same bumper (love it) I ended up grounding tailgate to body and used a teraflex mount that bolts to tailgate with stainless steel hardware and tuned out in a large plowed field and have a swr of 1.2 unless around large buildings or power lines. Had to try different mounts and burn one radio up before I hit the sweat spot.
Read your thread .How could you tell you burned up your CB radio?Because it wouldnt get swr reading? Thanks |
