Default Help! Problem with Uniden Bearcat

I have a Uniden Bearcat and I installed it about 2 weeks ago and I can't get out on it. I can hear people talking but it doesn't seem to be alot, I would think there would be more of it but I could be wrong. What is wrong with this thing...why can't I get out on this? No one can hear me. The CB is brand new and I have the Firestik 3ft on the back tire carrier.

was it setup correctly? what are your swrs, were they even checked when you installed. i HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU STOP TALKING ON IT! if the swrs are to high it WILL burn up the tansistors in it!

Jack
Its still not wanting to get out. Its a PC68LTW.

I'm a truck driver and have always used Cobras and Unidens and have always hooked them up and they worked. This one is different.

Default check voltage and SWR

Test voltage in Receive and Transmit. Current draw in receive is low and problem might not manifest itself. Key the mike and whistle to create some drive. Does voltage drop? If so, check wire size and connections. Check forward and reflected power. Low forward power suggests that the protection circuit on the final transistors may be reducing power to protect the radio. If you can measure more than one-half watt reflected you need to check coax and antenna. You can tune antenna by trial and error but best solution is to find a Ham or radio shop with one of the MFJ SWR analyzers - it will tell you where your antenna is resonant. Good luck!
