High SWR reading (5)
Though there is a common "rule" that coax should be 18' for a CB, that "rule" only came about due to so many poorly grounded systems. In a well-grounded system, the coax length is irrelevant as it's not part of the antenna. Only when the coax is acting as the counterpoise (bad, but common) would the length matter.
And the body should be well bonded to the frame as it is, allowing a connection to the body to work fine.
Ok so i took of the mount a ground off the paint and the metal plate had some sort of coating on it so i removed it all to bare metal. Then i changed my antenna to a different non tunable one and got channel 1 to read right below 1.5 but channel 40 was closer to 3. Any ideas for this now. Thanks to all who are helping by the way.
