how I mount my CB
I figured I'd post up some pics showing how I mounted my CB because it's a little different from what others have done. I came up with this idea because I think the CB is a bit of an eye-sore, and I dont need it all of the time. Also I wanted to be able to mount my portibal dvd player as well, so this is what i came up with.
The securing strips are a type of heavy duty velcro, and trust me, it's heavy duty, even through rough offroad abuse it doesn't budge.

I addd quick connects to the wires

Here's the DVD mounted

And the handy-cam. (which is good for trail video's)

Thats a great setup with the velcro....very adaptable to whatever you are doing. Question though, does the video camera stick on really well? I know that sometimes rock crawling you can get quite a shake left to right over some obstacles a little too fast. Wouldn't want that camera falling off!
this stuff isn't like normal velcro with one side being plastic hooks and the other being a fabric like material. with this stuff both sides are sturdy plastic hooks and it holds very well.
I don't remember the brand name, but I got it at Target
This is how I have my CB mounted. My radio is about the same size as the OP's.
I bought the velcro I used from an auto parts store, I don't remember which one. Advance Auto Parts, I think.
My only complaint, and it's probably my own fault because I rushed it, is the speaker is on the bottom and I can't hear it very well. I also didn't mount the bracket to the radio, which I should have done. I didn't think I'd need it. I have it hardwired, but I can always have it un-installed, attach the bracket (I think i still have it) and just put a cigarette lighter plug on it.
I may do that just so I can take it off my dash when I'm not using it.

BTW, I know the drivers side piece of velcro on the dash is peeling on one corner. Its because my little cousin was picking at it when he was playing in my jeep. I dont know why kids pick at things
. The sticky side is very sticky, and if you dont have kids picking at it, it will hold for a very long time.

I wonder - using a filter or something to step down the output level if necessary, could you run the speaker jack into the aux input of the stereo?
I'm not sure how I would mount a small speaker... or where. But, it's a great idea that I will have to examine further.
I love it I spent better than an hour yesterday looking for a place to mount mine. I didn't like any of the places available enough to cut or drill.
Sometimes the simplest most obvious are the best. Good job excellent idea.
