kirschie, do you take the 7000 out of the Jeep to use as a Base station as well? Curious to see an install like this. I'd like to be able to take the radio out and use in in my truck as well as the house on occasion. My 208H isn't going to cut it once I get my General Ticket.

Well after all was said and done, I ordered the Ft-897D with the MH-59A8J microphone. I am still researching on the antenna. I can't figure out if I want the ATAS-120 with a duplexer or get one antenna for 2m/70cm and one for HF plus mounts...

thats my setup ... now if only I can figure out why when i key up i lose rpm and get the esp/bas light kicks on (only happens at 100W, and on certain bands like 20m but not 80m)
What a drag....that has to be frustrating. I don't doubt it that it only happens at 100w. More rf out will inevitably cause more problems everytime. It could be that the amount of wiring in the jeep itself is closer to resonance at 20m which may cause it to resonate into the computer. How is your swr on 20? Is the computer picking up stray rf at the higher ouput level? You might try installing ferrites on the computer wiring. And/or try moving your grounds to different locations. Maybe even a ground strap around the compter sort of like a shield may help. I know some hams have gone as far as to build a grounded metal box around componants to stop the interference.
Good Luck....
