where do you run the wires to power and ground? How do you secure the CB? Velcro?

 

I installed the CB in the top panel and got called into work before I completed the install - thought it might just sit there for a quick trip to work (50miles on mostly freeway) to my surprise it didnt move at all!
I got busy and forgot to finish the job - then went wheelin with the Sydney Jeep club mostly B grade trax and then it struck me - the CB wasnt secured at all and I had been wheelin all day over some fairly rough terrain - so being a lazy sob I have still not finished the job and the CB hasn't moved a fraction of an inch - so until it moves I wont be even thinking of how to secure it lol.
got power and earth by scotch locking onto the wires on the back of the permanent 12v cig lighter socket.

I really enjoy having my CB on top - i can easily see and adjust all the features + the sound is good coming out of the speaker so close to me!

I wanted to add some switches to control;
Winch master power
Rear work Light
Arb Compressor
Front Spotlights
Map Lights
Fridge
CB GPS etc
I decided to install the daystar 4 rocker switch panel but I still wanted more switches - so on a recent SJC trip to the watagans I saw inside the trip leaders JK and noticed he had a nice commercial box installed above his mirror - that gave ma an idea - so (I'm guessing for a fraction of the cost)
I bought a second Daystar panel ($40 off Ebay USA including the switches fitted) and cut it down to fit the space above my mirror
Step 1 - Carefully measure the top panel and cut out a hole to install the daystar
Step 2 - cut down the daystar panel - as per pic
Step 3 - Test fit
Step 4 - Complete the wiring

Thanks for the write up. I have been putting off putting a CB because I couldn't find a location that I liked, and looked good. I think I going to see about putting mind there.

 

What is that thing next to your Switches, and I'm not talking about your mirror

 

It is an inclinometer to tell what angle he is at side-to-side.
