Default Installed my Cobra 75 WX ST

Well....first I want to say thank you to all those that put installation threads together as I found them helpful. I have to say the most difficult part of the installation to me was running the antennae cable through the tailgate and around the right hand inside corner of the jeep. I've got plenty of nicks and cuts on my hands and fingers to prove it

I went with the Teraflex spare tire mount and used my dremel tool to take some of the powder coating off of the back and inside of the mount area. In addition I thought I would take it a step further and run a ground wire from the mount to another bolt on the rear tailgate as others had said keep it as short as possible. This turned out to be a mistake as it didn't help but hurt the ground. When I removed that my numbers all came back in line. I guess I could have also run it to the sub floor bolt as some had said but that didn't seem very short to me and would require more fishing of wire through the tailgate (see previous rant about fishing wire through the tailgate)

All in all taking my time it was a longer install than I had thought and a bit of a pain but it turned out nice and everything is working great. Can't wait to use it on the next excursion. Again thanks to all that posted installation help. No lack of those on the forum or the internet. The radio package from Right Channel Radio came with NO instructions whatsoever. They referred you to their site for tutorials but I just stuck with what I could find on the forum since there was plenty to read.

Congrats, I just got one of these and am having a heck of a time figuring out where to put the remote unit. I mounted my firestick to the license plate holder and ran the wires along with the tail lights into the cab but now I am a hair short with the antenna cable and have to place the remote unit on the left side or somewhere in the center console. Where did you mount yours? any pics? Thanks

How long is your coax? I ran my 18' line through the license hole, below the rear window along the driver's side, dropped down to the floor below the driver's side rear seat, straight forward along the center hump, hung a right behind the heater controls and ended behind the glove box. I have about 12" to spare.

Sorry. I went in the opposite direction and mounted mine underneath the glove box. Do a search as there was a right up about a mount in the center console which might work for you.

Wow. I am surprised that worked. Since I mounted mine on the spare tire bracket I went down the passenger side. It worked fine but that first corner in the back is a bitch.

It's OK to extend the coax. You want it just long enough to reach wherever you are mounting the box.

Use one of these:

Thanks all, I only got 12' with my firestick for some reason, oh well. I did finally find (and quickly lost ) a write up on putting it in the center console which is where I would prefer it anyway. I will have plenty of cable for that.
