Yep it works great even after one winter and salt. I did have to redo the exhaust bonding.

I also have an amplified speaker from GAP which also removes lots of noise.

Plus after having the K3 and working with the roofing filters and dsp it taught me how to use the filters in the IC-7000 so even that works better.

A lot of time I can turn off the NB and NR stuff when driving.

FYI you also have to bond the transmission to the frame for the JK. I bonded at the mount right at the transmission as I did not want to drill into the trans as I thought that would be bad. This helped a lot in engine related noise.

I am reading the whole post from the beginning and I am not clear on all the bonding for this installation.

I suspect that the installation on the rear hitch will be real quiet. Basically there is not metal under the antenna system so there will be minimal capacitive coupling under the antenna which will reduce both signal and noise and reduce TX efficiency.

I just posted a presentation from Lon from the 3905 CC group and it is informative, assuming you have a good basis to begin with.

I hope the installation gets sorted out as once it starts to work its lots of fun.

Cheers
Don

SUCCESS. Moved the 2m/440 antenna back up to the gate. Seems that the antenna that was not being used was somehow Screwing with the other. Odd. but It's great now

Not odd at all. For the most part you never want to have another antenna too close as they will react to one another. You can get lucky once in awhile and the other antenna be close to a harmonic in which it may not react but actually help radiate. But in all reality you should never have ANY other metal too close. That's why some guys get different swrs with their soft top up or down.

Well that looks like a neat idea. How tall will the mast be again? What antenna/s do you plan on hanging off of it? You may really want to look at this antenna as well....

as tall as you want it. They are 4ft sections and i have 10 of em. Gonna need to guy them when over 20ft though but i have the plates and lines for that. Will typically only use 16ft or so for most operations. Gonna set it up this afternoon in the bay here at work to get a feel for it and get some pics, and tomorrow gonna do some field testing with a 2m halo on sideband for an up comming event we have planned

4 Sections. Roughly 16 Ft up. it doesn;t really need guying at that point as it is pretty sturdy but would with 1 more section so I was trying to see how it would look. 1 rope seemed to make it rock solid and not sway any though. Will try for 40 ft this weekend with friends help and more guying.
