Default maybe i missed something?

so I got a 4' firestick, 3" spring, antenna cable, and a cobra cb.... they were all a happy family until I got to mounting the antenna and had no mount. I am looking to mount the antenna right behind the license plate, ("behind" being in between the fuel door and the left blinker. ) I would like to mount it strait to the bumper because the cooltech mount is outside my price range. What mount would you suggest? Can I just use the spring to mount it and ground out the spring?

I looked for a regular universal CB antenna mount and everyone looked at me like I was asking for their bank information. The best I could get was a thought that their might be one at a truck stop 30 miles away...

I made a custom Mount for mine. I didnt do anything fancy, a piece of flat steel from Lowes, big ol hammer, a drill and 2 bolts. A little over 4 dollars for this mount. A little time consuming only because in order to get the bends right you have to take the bumper off and on to make sure it fits through the tight squeeze. I put a few pieces of thin foam inserts with double sided tape to make sure the mount doesnt scratch the paint. I cant get all the pictures to post for some reason but I have it mounted by attaching it to the bracket holding the bumper on. Click image for larger version

that looks really good but brings up another question, the cable I have has a loop on one end it is more like an eyelit then a connection, it also has a piece of plastic inside the center of the loop....? they said it would work with what I got but Im a newb and not tracking what to do with it.

it sounds like the kind of cable you have would actually let you make the mount closer to the bumper than mine. You can get different kind of antenna bolts so just get the one that doesnt have a coax cable connection on it and it should work.

Did you get the plastic washer that goes on top of your mounting hole between the spring and the mount? If u look at the previous pic you can see what I'm talking about....
It came with two black "plastic" washers....? Im not sure if they are plastic are they supposed to go on either side of the eyelit connector? where do they go?

My solution to mount my 3' Firestik... a simple stainless steel bracket which can be bought at any truck stop or CB shop for a few $$$. It's a Jeep, who cares about a few holes drilled into the sheet metal.

I ended up using a genaric cb mount... I ran the cable through the top of the rear corner, set the antenna up the same way it is in the picture and ran the ground back up through the corner to the ground I am using for my sub amp. Now my SWR readings are all over the place...?

AZ Outlaw where did you connect your ground wire?

No ground wire on the Firestik... self grounding as long as you have it mounted metal to metal. My SWR readings on average stay below 1.5 on all 40 channels.
