Midland 75 822
I'm looking to get a cb for my jeep-i know close to nothing about them but I have read hundreds of threads here. I have never found a more resourceful group then you guys.
Show me your Midland 75 822 set up ( I know that it can be used as a handheld as well) but i would love to see how you handle the external antenna ( like any other cb?) or are there are alternatives. Also have you rigged up a a way to mount the unit while not in handheld mode?
Sorry for the long post-any advice would be great-thanks.

I have the Midland and ran the antenna cable from the rear up to the console. It comes up just under the bottom panel under the power outlets. I ran 18ft but could have used a foot or two more. I don't have any pictures and am at work so it would be hard to get them for a while. If you want them you can pm me your e-mail and I can e-mail them to you from my phone.
The antenna cable just sits there when not in use but its just the plug part so its not very noticable.
When i use the cb I just plug it into the power outlet and the antenna and its ready to go. Since they are both close to each other it keeps it out of the way pretty good.
I made a bracket to hang the mic on next to the radio and covered it in velcro so the clip won't move around on it and I can use the velcro to hold my i-pod too.

no.. dont do it....
I had this CB, with the cooltech license plate mount, 4' firestik, and it was SWR <1.7..
I hated it. it worked ok for Jeeps that were at a distance, but anything local was crazy garbled. I bought a used Cobra 29, NIGHT AND DAY. everybody, near or far sounds perfectly clear.

Mine works like a champ in the jeep. 1.1-1.2 on 19 and 1.4-1.6 on 1 and 40.
And it works great as a handheld too. Newegg has good prices on it but I bought mine through a local cb shop.
Here's mine. 2ft antenna antenna is what I use most of the time so it doesn't hit my garage door when I drive in the garage but the SWR is around 3.5. When I go out and about, I put in the 3ft antenna and I get it around 1.5.
