Military antenna
And actually that is a pretty big issue, because there are a lot of "dirty" CBs out there.
Made another change. My homebrew NVIS adapter wasn't working out and as most of you have said the 12' antenna is massive. So for day to day driving I made a small adapter with a 3/4" bass fitting and a 3/8x28 CB coupler.
Instead of sinking a lot of money into a screwdriver antenna with a controller I bought a Chameleon V2 multi-band antenna. It covers 10m - 80m + 6m. It comes with a 9:1 Balun and combined with my LDG auto-tuner tunes up great on ham bands and most of the MARS frequencies. This antenna is only 4' tall making it easy to drive with. I still have the 12" military whip under the back seat for stationary use.
If trails have a lot over growth I do remove the V2. Just simply unscrew it and lay it on the back seat.
