My Cobra 75 CB and antenna install
I am using a 3ft firefly antenna.
On the check list for tomorrow. Ground the remote unit. Remove make shift bonding wire. Check SWR with gate closed and open. Cuss. Research bonding straps some more. Researching base loaded wire whip antennas. Care to recommend any?

I couldn't really find a spot I liked in the JK to install my 20 year old Cobra 20 CB so I picked up the popular Cobra 75 all in one unit and thought I'd share some pics of the install...
First the antenna, a 36" Firestick mounted to the spare tire carrier (purchased the mount from a local CB shop that sells through Quadratec). The antenna cable is routed through the same rubber grommet used by the brake light wires.

The CB box is installed under the glove box on the metal bracket and quick disconnect on the panel beneath the glove box. (This is wired directly to the battery)

Cooltech VersaMount with cb mic bracket riveted in ...

Finally, the mic mounted on the CoolTech VersaMount:

That's it...it sounds great and the antenna tuned real well...off to the trails !!!

Awesome Job!!!
I finished my install today. Now all that's left is to tune it. Same basic install up front as everyone else. Here are a few pics of my antenna mount. And yes, the mount is grounded to the subwoofer bolt, it just wasn't installed when I took the pictures.

I didn't use the metal plate under the dash for the pass-through - just the rubber grommet. Will this come back to bite me? Should I go drill the holes and mount it?
This is the "metal plate" I'm talking about:

This is a great thread! I like the radio, but am concerned about having the mic mount down in that panel, worried about the dog getting into it, could it be put in the center panel, down low. (I have a Rubicon) or somewhere there abouts, Ive seen some of the sound bar mounts also but they mentioned its a PITA to "tune".....do you have to tune the radio often or just when you install it? I also like the small roll bar mounted hidden speakers, does anyone know the manufacturer of them or where to get them? Thanks
Finished the install, attached junction directly to the battery and secured the connector under center section of dash. Mounted mike using cooltech versamount, mounted firestick to tailgate mount and coax cable run along tube to main box and ground wire to inside acorn nut to rear speaker, all wires hidden to clean up look.
