Question Need idiot-guide for powering Cobra 75 WX ST CB

Ok, I know it's probably really easy.. I *should* be able to figure this out, but.. a bit of a pantsy when it comes to ripping of panels and wiring stuff by the seat of my pants..

Where can I plug my Cobra 75 in powerwise? Read about the left cig lighter or the battery directly.. Anyone have step-by-step (pics even better..) instructions for either of these?

A general panel disassembly guide wouldnt be bad either

Take off far right fan vent (turn counter clock wise and pull, you will feel it, you may have to go clock wise.) Once it is out, stick fingers in and push off panel out off of side of dash.
Take out glove compartment by squeezing sides and pulling. Then take off panel below that. (If you want to mount your CB Box there)
Now take a look into the side that you pulled off. You should see some insulation.

Go around to front and open hood. You should be able to see said insulation there too. Take a coat hanger or something similar. Push it through the insulation until it comes out the other side beside the dash.

Take your red and black wires and use electrical tape to attach them onto hanger. Pull hanger through. Now your wires should be in the engine compartment. Voila. Attach red to red and black to black (or another ground)

Come back inside and do a search on Cobra 75 installs on here to finish the install.

for sure! Love all the help.. Going to try and hook it up tomorrow. How should I attach the power cables to the battery? just screw them on directly to it?

Yep that should do it fine. If I remember correctly, the ends are terminated. Just screw them directly on the battery. If you do go this route, one thing to remember is that the CB will stay on even after you turn off your Jeep. If you connect the power to the left hand interior outlet (by splicing into it) the CB will shut off with the Jeep.
I did mine to the battery as I only use my CB when I am wheeling.

Good luck and show us some pics when you are done!!!!

Make sure they are tight! I had some electrical issues for awhile and it ended up being because the terminal nuts on the battery that hold down the wires from my cb had worked lose and were causing shorts....just a heads up should you start getting electrical gremlins.
